The Finlandia Hall is situated somewhat outside the city centre of Helsinki near the Bay of Töölö. Facing the waterfront the building has a horizontal facade out of which rise the striking planes of the Concert Hall. Facing the park, the building is more strongly differentiated and culminates in the wave like facade of the congress wing.

From the entry hall, wide staircases are leading into the foyer on the first floor. From this elongated room one has a panoramic view over the Bay of Töölö.

The spatial climax is achieved by the concert hall interior. The walls are clad in dark blue acoustic elements of bend wood, from which the stepped white balconies emerge. The rhythmic arrangements of the ceiling and the dynamic of the walls imbue the room with a symphonic character, as if the music had been transformed into architectural forms.
